Business background
Founded in 1990, Li Ning is a leading professional sports brand in China with more than 6,000 offline stores. Store operations and inventory management require high accuracy and efficiency. Traditional barcode-based workflows could not meet these demands. After introducing the Seuic AUTOID UTouch RFID terminal, the company enabled rapid inventory counting and inbound/outbound verification, significantly improving operational efficiency and achieving real-time omnichannel inventory visibility to support refined retail operations.
Challenges
Time-consuming inventory counting: Thousands of SKUs per store made manual stocktaking a multi-hour task, disrupting operations and employee experience.
Low item-locating efficiency: Staff often struggled to locate specific sizes or colors, reducing sales efficiency.
Delayed replenishment: Slow inventory data updates led to both stockouts of bestsellers and overstock of long-tail items.
Limited customer experience: Long waiting times during peak hours negatively impacted in-store service quality.
Solution
This solution covers inbound receiving, daily inventory counting, in-store item locating, and cross-store transfer scenarios. The solution combines the Seuic AUTOID UTouch RFID handheld terminal with RFID apparel tags, forming a four-layer architecture:
Tag layer: RFID-enabled tags embedded in apparel and shoeboxes bind SKU, color, size, and batch data.
Device layer: UTouch enables up to 950 tags/second group reading, 0–15m reading range, and intelligent item-finding algorithms.
System layer: Integrated with HQ ERP / POS / WMS systems.
Network layer: Wi-Fi + 4G dual connectivity with offline caching support.
Results
10× faster inventory counting: Store-level stocktaking reduced from several hours to under 30 minutes.
5× faster item locating: Intelligent search algorithms improve staff responsiveness and customer shopping experience.
Smarter replenishment: Inventory accuracy improved to 99%+, reducing both stockouts and overstock issues.
Faster cross-store transfers: Batch reading and data synchronization reduce transfer reconciliation from hours to minutes.
HQ-level visibility: Real-time inventory and sales data across 6,000+ stores enables precise forecasting and proactive replenishment planning.
